Questionnaire - more than you ever wanted to know

30 things

I found this on a lovely blog called You Just Do, who found this on a lovely blog called Hopes and Dreams.
I am a suckerrrrr for these questionnaire type deals.
I also love getting to know peeps' random details because I'm nosey.
I was that girl who loved gettin' this kinda shiz in my email.
I should really break this down into more than one post, but I like instant gratification, and I am impatient.
Also, there are no pictures. #worstbloggerever
Let's get started, shall we?

THE LIST:

{1}
 List 20 random facts about yourself.
1 - I was born on the fourth of July.
2 - I have the type 1 diabeetus.
3 - I hate meatloaf.
4 - I think Starbuck's actual coffee is disgusting. I only go there for their specialty drinks.
5 - I hung around my husband's friends right there in and across from his dorm room and never laid eyes on him for two years almost.
6 - I can make a sound with my tongue that sounds just like a horse galloping.
7 - I think that hubs + old spice deodorant + white tshirt = heaven.
8 - I love peeling my skin from a sunburn.
9 - I'll be 30 next year.
10 - I love cranberry sauce out of the can.
11 - I've been a nailbiter my whole life. I'm better now, but I still cut them short because I cannot stand the feeling of long nails.
12 - I think dogs are cuter than most human babies. Also, more pleasant to be around. However, I very much want a child of my own. Yep - there may be something wrong with me.
13 - I grew up in a blended family and have two brothers and one sister. I am the oldest.
14 - I have an unhealthy Diet Mt. Dew habit {cans only, please}
15 - I hate wearing heels, and dresses. I am not a girly girl.
16 - At the same time, I am not athletic either. I played volleyball for exactly one year in high school.
17 - I never go to the movies. Maybe once a year. I also hate the mall and avoid it if at all possible.
18 - I think 5-min. grits are better than 'real' ones, except in recipes, then you need the real deal holyfield.
19 - I hate to sweat. And I hate being cold. I wish it was about 70 degrees for 40% of the year, and about 50 degrees for 40% of the year, 85 degrees for 10%, and 30 degrees with snow, no ice for 10%.
20 - I do not own any apple products except for my ipod from the dinosaur age. When it comes time to renew my contract, I am still undecided about an iPhone mainly because they don't take as high a quality pics as my Droid. Otherwise, I'm sick of my phone. Hmmm.

 {2}
Describe 3 legitimate fears you have and explain how they became fears.
1 - I'm terrified that I'll never have a healthy pregnancy/baby because I had an ectopic already and surgery to remove one fallopian tube and I'm diabetic.
2 - I fear that I'll live a long life, but with complications from diabetes.
3 -  I'm scared of the day I have to deal with the death of someone really close to me.

 {3}
Describe your relationship with your parents.
I was raised my mom and stepdad. They live about 3 hours away and they are the shiz. We see them usually once a month, sometimes more. I am very blessed in my relationship with the parentals.

{4}
List 10 things you would tell your 16 year-old self, if you could.
1 - Don't waste time worryin' over a dude. Use this time to focus on your relationships with your girlfriends. As you get older, you'll get busier, and you won't see each other nearly enough, and girl time will be limited. Appreciate it now while you can. You'll have plenty of time to spend in a relationship later. Also, you will have this awesome idea to have a mud-wrestiling party senior year. In broad daylight. Without alcohol. People will still have fun. Be grateful for the friends you have and the good times y'all shared.
2 - When you get to college, don't come home so often. You will miss so much because of it.
3 - Drink more some water, period - and less Diet Mt. Dew.
4 - Don't ever smoke the first cigarette. You are creating a monster.
5 - Don't pierce your belly button. Shit is skeezy. And you are diabetic. It will get infected, and you'll have a scar fo life.
6 - In high school, you'll have friends in another county who have exams on a different day than you. They will almost have you convinced to call in a bomb threat. Don't. You'll be glad you didn't.
7 - Enjoy all the Bojangle's biscuits that you want while you are not having a gluten intolerance, and your metabolism is still high.
8 - The Jack Daniels Down Home Punch is so not worth the blood sugars in the 3 and 400's. Or the room spinning while you feel like you are sinking into the ground. Just not worth it, truly.
9 - Never again wish for straight hair. When you get older, you will lose a bunch of the curl, and your hair will be limp and flat as a fritter. You will have to tease that shit to have any volume whatsoever. Not to mention the grays that'll sneak in.
10 - Don't waste time worryin' over anybody who makes you cry. Not a single second. One day, you will meet somebody much, much more suited for you. God knows what He's doing in this department, as well as all other aspects of your life.

The ectopic pregnancy and all of the fears for the future that come with it.

{7}
 What is your dream job, and why?
It's not really a 'job', but I am really enjoying spending time at my FIL's store {in business since 1890}, organizing, decorating, and finding ways to display the merchandise and market it to the customers. I LOVE antiques and historical buildings, so the opportunity to do this is so much fun to me.
I love any opportunity to make a space more inviting and welcoming. I also enjoy doing photography because I love capturing the real moments in life and giving to people as a way to preserve memories.

{8}
What are 5 passions you have?
1 - My marriage.

{9}
List 10 people who have influenced you and describe how.
1 - God - I consider myself blessed to know Him, and He has shown me how much He loves me about 154897561 times.
2 - All of my family and their impact in my upbringing.
3 - My husband. He is so good to me everyday. He is patient, and reminds me to focus on the positive.
4 - My surgeon. I sent him a thank you note for being so warm and compassionate and positive. He called me and thanked me for the thank you card. I will never forget that.
5 - ... ?

{10
Describe your most embarrasing moment.
When I was in 5th grade, I had this huge crush on this boy in my class. This girl who was my 'friend' knew it because we'd talked all night about it on the phone, and so the next day, she set up this thing during lunch where he was supposed to ask me to be his girlfriend. Instead, he totally played my face in front of everyone and told me that he would never want to be my boyfriend. I ran to the bathroom and cried and refused to come out. Lunch was over, and the rest of the class went back to the classroom. The teacher had to come to the bathroom and have a talk with me and the chick who set me up. :/

{11}
Describe 10 pet peeves you have.
1 - People who let their kids run their lives/households and expect other people to do it too.
2 - Racists.
3 - Honey Boo Boo, The Kardashians, All the 'Housewives'. I think that shit is so stupid, and it's scary that people watch it over and over.
4 - People who pull out in front of you and go 10 mph, when there was NOBODY behind you and they could have waited.
5 - Most commercials. One recent annoyance is Peyton Manning saying, "Hut Hut, call Papa Bear"  ... Buick commercial maybe?
6 - People who don't assume responsibility for their own shit and constantly blame someone else.
7 - Groups of people who walk slow as molasses in the mall and they are taking up the whole walkway so you have to go completely around to the other side to get around them. Or, they just stop and stand there in the middle of the walkway.
8 - Teenage girls thinking everything is 'Omg, so hilar.'
9 - Certain words - kiddos, nom-nom/noming
10 - People who stay busy telling other people how to do things when they are sitting there on their ass.

{12}
Describe a typical day in your current life.
Some combination of cleaning/laundry/errands, something for the store {cleaning/errands/organization/t-shirt ordering/facebook page updates, etc}, blogging, photo taking/editing.
Exciting life, huh?
I found myself unexpectedly unemployed from teaching a few months ago, so my life is pretty random right now.

{13}
Describe 5 weaknesses you have.
1 - boots
2 - fried potatoes in any form
3 - bacon/sausage
4 - rap music
5 - very easily distracted. i cannot do two things at once, or listen to someone and do something else at the same time. conversations while driving are not possible or i'll never make it to the destination. i seriously think if i went to a dr, i would qualify as 'add', but i don't feel like meds are a necessity at this point.
6 - overly sensitive

{14}
Describe 5 strengths you have.
1 - honest
2 - some say I have a bubbly personality
 3 - creative
4 - thorough/perfectionist {could be a weakness too}
5 - compassionate

{15}
If you were an animal, what would you be and why?
A dog. An indoor dog. Looks to me like Brody's got it made.

{16}
What are your 5 greatest accomplishments?
1 - I don't know that it's an accomplishment, but I'm certainly very happy to have found and married my husband.
2 - Achieving an a1c of 5.8 was a HUGE accomplishment for me.
3 - Being the first in my family to graduate from college. {Although I wish I had majored in something more creative. However, I met so many amazing people while I was teaching.}
4 - ...

{17}
What is the thing you most wish you were great at?
Sticking to working out.
I hate loathe it. But, I need to do it for my fatness, and for my diabetes. I get so frustrated because it's hard to balance an effective workout with keeping my blood sugars stable. I just give up and quit trying. :/

{18}
What has been the most difficult thing you have had to forgive?
I've forgiven someone who has never, ever been there for me. I have no feelings of bitterness toward this person. However, I don't want anything to do with this person now. My life is better without them in it. I think God knew what He was doing when He created that distance.

{19}
If you could live anywhere, where would it be and why?
Being close to family is important to me. Where we are now is within a few hours' drive from all of our family, so I can't complain. We get all four seasons, and I am in the south. I am also near excellent medical care. I am happy where I am.

{20}
Describe 3 significant memories from your childhood.
1 - I have vivid memories of my uncle playing with me a lot when I was little. He used to lift me up toward the ceiling fan and scare the crap out of my mom. That's normal, right?
2 - I remember getting diagnosed with diabetes and being in Duke hospital for a week, and having lots of visitors.
3 - I remember passing out from low blood sugar in 5th grade on field day. My teacher called my mom, and she picked me up from school. She was on the way to Raleigh from our hometown because she had randomly won $1000 on the radio.

{21}
If you could have one superpower, what would it be and what would you do with it first?
I would have the ability to sense evil/violence/bullying right away, like a radar. And I would be able to be instantly transported to the scene of said evil. However, I would be invisible. So, I would show up and right the wrong, but I would be invisible, thereby stopping the crime, and paying back the asshole who was committing the crime. The fact that I was invisible would be enough to scare the piss out of the perpetrator, and they would be cured from wanting to do anymore evil after that. ;)

{22}
Where do you see yourself in 5 years? 10 years? 15 years?
I can't think past 5 years. I hope to be Mama to at least one shugpie. Still happily married to my Anjpie. Hopefully a house with some character on a little bit of land.The rest, I don't know.

{23}
List your top 5 hobbies and why you love them.
See my passions questions. They are the same. I love them because they all keep me in touch with who I am and make me feel grounded and relieve stress.

{24}
Describe your family dynamic of your childhood vs. your family dynamic now.
I grew up in a blended family with myself being the oldest, then a sister, and two brothers. We all grew up together, so I consider them all 'real' siblings. I still love, love, love them and their significant others and whenever we get a chance for us all to get together and hang out. I am very thankful that we all get along and enjoy spending time together.
As for now, I am married {three years this past April}, and we don't have any children yet, but hopefully very soon. I want at least two, God willing.

{25}
If you could have dinner with anyone in history, who would it be and what would you eat?
I would have dinner with any of my great grandmothers or great great grandmothers that I never got to meet. I think it would be fascinating to meet them, and to get to ask them what life was like for them then {marriage, women's roles then, what daily life was like, etc}. I would want to eat something that they prepared in their own kitchen, and I'd ask for the recipe.

{26}
What popular notion do you think the world has most wrong?
I think people have these false ideals that it's possible to make everything warm and snuggly. {No war, no guns, etc.} That is ignorant in my opinion. There has always been evil in the world and there always will be. We have to adapt, not live in a bubble where everything is perfect, because it isn't. Also, I think people raise their children to be idolized. They indirectly teach them that the world revolves around them, and that is not reality. Then, they grow up and can't understand why the world doesn't owe them.

{27}
What is your favorite part of your body and why?
My ass. It is round, but not too fat, and I think it's feminine. I have no desire to shrink it or hide it. I'd love to be healthier and lose some weight, but nobody should be skinny enough to look like a tampon.

{28}
What is your love language?
I don't know. I think it was words of affirmation. Andrew always tells me how much he loves me and how much he appreciates me and things that I do for him and for us, and that makes me feel secure and safe in our relationship.

{29}
 What do you think people misundertand most about you?
I am not one to be fake. If it's not funny, I don't laugh. If am annoyed or bored, I have a hard time faking my lack of enthusiasm. However, I am not a hard core bitch. I am actually quite sensitive. I'm just not one to be something other than what I am naturally.

{30}
List 10 things you would hope to be remembered for.
1 - Showing the ones that I love just how much I love and care for them.
2 - Honesty
3 - Finding the happy in life and the lesson in every situation.
4 - Being a good wife.
5 - Being a good mother.
6 - Standing up for what I believe in.
7 - Being loyal.
