you should have known, dick

this dude put this comical rant up on bodyform's facebook page about how the maxi pad company had lied to him his whole life,
by indicating that aunt flo's visit was sunshines and rainbows.
so, the maxipad brand made a video in response.

yeahhhhhhhhhh, Caroline Williams!

get yo prancercise on!

i think this video pretty much speaks for itself.

bank teller at the top.
80's camel toe at the bottom.

even on mute, it's awesome.

i'm wondering:
1) would it be more beneficial to just wear weights on your wrists and ankles at the same time?
2) look like a cloud fittin' to come up. she better get inside.

get it on amazon - check out the reader comments

* i'm out of town this week on some family stuff - i'll holla soon.

The Great Gatsby - I'd watch again

We saw it this afternoon, and I loved it.
I also loved the book, although I can't put my finger on exactly why.
You don't love the characters, because they are selfish.
And it doesn't have a happy ending.
But, there's something magical about it.

But - the soundtrack? In love. Not so much with the songs themselves, but the songs contributed so much to the magic. It was like the 20's come to life - but at the same time, modern artists like Jay Z, Florence + the Machine, Lana Del Rey, and Fergie were featured.
The costumes - for both the men and the women - were to die for.
{I especially loved Gatsby's ensembles - three piece suits (in white, browns, pink!), brown & white oxfords, bow ties, suspenders, the straw skimmer hats - love, love, love.}
I really, really, really wanna have a Gatsby party now.
I think for the most part, the movie stays true to the book, including using key lines from the text in the dialogue of the movie.
Watching the movie made me love the book even more.
By the time we left, I wanted to party with Gatsby - and then be able to go back to my own house and avoid all the drama.

I also decided Leonardo DiCaprio is pretty hot in this one.
Too bad he wasted all that on Daisy's bitch ass.

Gatsby by shug in boots on Grooveshark

Have you seen the movie?
What did you think?

26 March 2013

shut up, little girl.

this. little. girl. makes. me. wanna. bang. my. head. into. a. wall.
repeatedly.

i mean holy snapple.
we have to mute it every time it comes on.

- however -

i do love this one:

i love when the mini shugpie says, 'mmmmmmmhmm'
i also enjoy that the other shugpie is totally shocked/offended that he high fived her ass when she was tryin to raise her hand.

and while we're at it,
this child is the cutest thing i have ever seen.
shut the front door with that haircut and cardigan.

deuces.

03 February 2013

God made a farmer, y'all.

And He gave me an awesome FIL who lets {?} me come clean, organize and decorate his old general store.

I'm still alive.
And still busy.
The store and I have been spendin' a lot of time together.
It is in need of some love.
Bonus, I get to hang out with fabulous shugpies like this while I'm there:

 photo oops1_zpse78de06f.jpg

And then there's The Hardware Show.
There is somethin' magical about old men in tall ball caps talkin' about seed spreaders and mouse traps and cast iron cookware.

And I've had to help clean up some messes.

 photo oops_zps9ed1ff6d.jpg

But, I still love y'all.
What can I say? My B.
Sometimes life happens.

PS - the best thing about The Super Bowl?

This commercial:

Way to have the nuts to mention God in a Super Bowl commercial.
And farmers.
Some people make fun of schools like State and Clemson {among others}.
I wanna know where the hell y'all think your food comes from.

Deuces for now.

17 January 2013

looks like two pigs fightin' under a blanket

I couldn't pick a favorite, but it is definitely a tie between these two.

{Steel Magnolias}

I've seen this movie so many times I lost count.
I love all of the characters so much, especially Ouiser - then, Drum and Clairee.

Photobucket

Have y'all ever seen the trailer?
I hadn't until I was lookin' for stuff for this post.

I found a video of some of the funniest parts, too.
I might even love Ouiser's facial expressions maybe a frog hair more than her commentary.

I love this movie because in my experience, it actually embodies how southern women really interact with each other.

My other favorite:

{Divine Secrets of the Ya Ya Sisterhood}

I've seen this one close to ten times, I'm sure.

Photobucket

Similar theme, southern chicks, friendship through the rough stuff, and it's hilarious.

I love their Ya Ya scrapbook, too!

This is my favorite scene:

And then of course, there's this movie ... what was it called?

Photobucket

The storyline was lackin'. But, it had some good parts.

What's your favorite movie?

29 November 2012

a video and some Polo

1) How friggin hilarious is this?
After awhile, you feel like the dog is trying to get the kid to understand how annoying she is, like, "Pleassssssse, for the loooooooove, zip it!"

2) Last night, hubs & I were looking for clothes for his Christmas list and came across these shug pies on the Polo website, and I just wanted to share.
That is all.
* I kinda like the blonde, aviator-sportin Ken doll.

another example of too much gov't involvement

I IN NO WAY intend to make light of what people suffered in Nazi Germany.
I DO NOT think there is ANYTHING remotely funny about that.
Hitler was one sick sonofabitch and may he burn.

With that said, I did not make this video, and I did not choose the people in it.
But - I am choosing to show it because if you are a teacher, especially a teacher who is responsible for test scores, you can relate to the dialogue very well. This video pretty much tells the story of a teacher's very important relationship with some damn test scores.
The far-removed-never-been-responsible-for-teaching-kids-a-day-in-my-life-or-even-been-in-a-school-since-1959 politicians who are coming up with these "solutions" are a joke.

Thankfully, I never worked for anyone this whack, but I definitely have friends who did and still do.

Testing is everything!!
And even if your principal doesn't personally think so, his or her boss is riding their ass so they will ride their teachers' asses.
Social studies? Pshh.
The arts? Pshh.
Writing? Please.
The child is going through a divorce at home?
Daddy has just been deployed?
Grandma died?
The student didn't have supper last night or breakfast this morning?
Who cares!?! Better meet those goals!!
As long as you can do math, read, and bullshit your way through a science test, then whoooooo cares if you know nothing about history or the government or anything going on around you??
Not my personal opinion, and not the opinion of my previous employer, THANK GOD, but sadly, it is the message the government is sending with their adding on more and more pressure and shit for teachers to do while taking NOTHING off of their plates.

Remember the kids?
Anyone?
Is this thing on?

Who Am I? .... Petey Pab, M.......

this video is dedicated to my dear husband Anj , who once parked petey pablo's car purple H2 (he said this was important) ... to Jordan, just because it feels right ... and to all the shugpies who lived in Berry Hall with me, especially the ones from the NC. oh, and the one from PA who helped me celebrate this song the most.

dj shug bone - pontoon dreams

IMHO, life would suck mayjah without music. And I like all kinds. Remember Limewire and whatever the other major one was Napster where you totally jacked music for free, and there'd be all kinds of busted bootleg versions of crap on there? Then, you thought about piracy, and how it was sketch, and you should prolly stop that?

Every morning in high school, before I got my license, my BFF would pick me up and we'd listen to Bone Thugs, Eve and Jimi Hendrix amongst hundreds of other randoms as loud as it'd go with one of the following beverages in hand:
1) Diet Mt. Dew {can}
2) Diet Dr. Pepper {bottle}
3) some kinda mocha coffee concoction from the local coffee shop whose name I cannot recall Barrister's

I swear, it was what enabled me to drag outta bed in the mornin and not skip school - most of the time.

I also decided that my future children will be exposed to all kinds of la musica from the womb on out {no pun intended}. Biggie, Tupac, Bone ... they are my kinda party, friends.

But, I like country too. Soooo.... today, I'd like to share my love obsession for this LBT magic. I wake up with this in my head quite frequently recently, or it'll just randomly pop in at any given point in the day and I welcome it with open arms.

 {PONTOON by Little Big Town}

I dig the video and would very much like to be on the boat with them, sipping bevies, wearing aviators, rockin wedges, a romper, and perhaps a fedora.

Back this hitch bitch up into the water....

Here's the video if you care to partake:

On the PONtoon,
makin waves and catchin rays up on the roof.
 Jumpin off the back,
don't act like you don't want to ...
party in slow motion

Hatfields & McCoys

Photobucket

I don't know if y'all watched the Hatfields & McCoys earlier this week on The History Channel. It was a total of six hours - two hours on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Totally wrecked my sleep schedule. But I liked it, and I recommend.

The whole time, all I could think of was the mountains of NC. Totally diggin the scenery, and the accents were southern/Appalachian mountains, and in my humble opinion, actually sounded like the area - especially considering some of the actors have foreign accents in real life.

I could not get past the "era" details - the teeth, the dirty clothes and the thought of "honeymooning" with somebody back in the day. And they managed to have more than a dozen kids per family? Whoa. Random, I know. But, really, it was interesting, and crazy that this shiz went down, and lasted almost 30 years.

Here's a nice overview for those of you wondering, What's all this about?

A couple random, non-intellectual, non-historical things I found of interest:

1) Both families seemed to have an endless supply of younguns.
Hatfields - 13 kids
McCoys - 16 kids
Where were these children made? They all lived in a tiny lil cabin. Eeek.
2) Love the names:
HATFIELDS -
*Anderson "Devil Anse"
*Cap
*Ellison
*Valentine "Wall"
*Johnson "Johnse"
*Cotton Top
*Elias "Good 'Lias"
*Levicy

McCOYS -
*Randolph "Randall"/"Ole Ran'l"
*Asa "Harmon"
*Tolbert
*Roseanna
*Pharmer
*Alifair
*Parris
*Selkirk
*Ransom

Click here for a good interactive overview of the main characters in the movie.

Watching led me to get my google/wikipedia on.

The Hatfields in 1897: (couldn't find a legit McCoy photo)

Check out the dog.
Photobucket

The word from Wikipedia:
In 1979, the two families united for a special week's taping of the popular game show Family Feud, in which they played for a cash prize and a pig which was kept on stage during the games.
The Hatfield family won the contest 301- 227.

Great-great-great grandsons of feud patriarch, Randolph McCoy, Bo McCoy of Waycross, Georgia, and his cousin, Ron McCoy of Durham, North Carolina, organized an historic joint family reunion of the Hatfield and McCoy families in 2000. More than 5000 persons attended the reunion, which attained national attention and was dubbed "The Reunion of the Millennium"

Crazy, ain't it?

Hubs didn't see it yet, so we are watching again tonight. He'll be all about the historical value. I'm wanting to watch again because I feel like there's little things that'll make more sense the second time around. Plus, I'm half sick and my back hurts and I ain't tryin to go nowhere on this here Saturday night.

Every time I watch, or think of the Hatfields and McCoys, I also think of this:

You can find all three full episodes on History.com.

dreamin {special thanks to Diet Coke & Starbucks}

Whattup, peeps? Guess what? I may have had 3 Diet Cokes and a Grande Mocha Frappucino in a 2 - 2.5 hr. time frame. Welcome aboard.

Photobucket

I decided, I am in love with the great state of NC, and am clearly favored by God to be born and raised here - and, in the south in general, really. (No offense to you shugpies from somewhere else. Thanks for readin. ;)  )  Anyhoo, I have spent a great deal of my life in a car - either ridin or drivin back and forth between NC, SC and VA. No complaints here. ;)

drive

I was born in the northern part of NC, within a half hour or so from the Virginia line - in a town where there's not a lot to do. Sooo, drivin to VA happened on the reg.

Also, my dad's job moved us around a good bit growin up, and as a result, I've lived in several towns in NC, as well as a 2.5 year stay in VA. Since being an adult, I've also lived in SC twice ... so far. ;)  Once at the beach, once on the state line. I have spent, and still do spend, A LOT of hours ridin back and forth, between 2 or 3 towns, 2 or 3 times a month. And as I've mentioned before, I LOVE TO RIDE. To me it is straight up therapy. No yackin. No phone ringin. No email. Just my music. My car. My windows down.

In NC - you see lots of rolling hills, wild flowers, farmland, ponds, lakes, mountains, beaches ... hear blue grass, have pig-pickins and buy stew to raise money for a cause. People are nice when you stop for gas in a random town. Strangers say ma'am when you buy groceries. Yes, I love it.

I especially love it in fall and summer - fresh air and ridin for hours. Today, I left from the Charlotte area to meet a friend in the Greensboro area for lunch. I was telling her how much I dream of an old house on a bit of land, close enough to family, but not close enough to neighbors to shake their hand out my bedroom window. I don't wanna hear what you're doin in your house. I don't want to wave at yo ass every time I check the mail. No offense.

Anyhoo - on my ride back, I just thanked God for a beautiful day, and for havin him raise me where he did. Just gorgeous.

As I was rockin out to my radio on the way home, I heard both of these songs, which I am totally obsessed with.

Yes - Dirt Road Anthem is old, but it's my blog, and I say it's still magical.

The other song - Fly Over States reminds me of the beauty that's often overlooked in a small town. Y'all know I LOVE ME some Jason Aldean.

I guess you learn to love whatever you grew up with. (Or maybe for some people, the opposite?) And the world is full of beautiful places. And while I like a little taste of downtown city life every now and then,  I'll take the sound of crickets over the sound of traffic and nightlife any day.

Peace out, sugar lumps.

{Creep - TLC}

{Don't Take It Personal (Just One of Dem Days) - Monica}

{Dear Mama - Tupac}

{Every Little Thing I Do - Soul For Real}

These just brought back a flood of unpleasant memories.

FILA shoes (wth?)
Starter jackets. (Ralph.)
Chicks' obsession with Limited Too matching sweatshirts and scrunchies. (bleck.)
Skating rink lock ins. (Where SKANKASS peeps with stringy greasy hair would stand between video games and make out. Whuuuuuuufff!)

Never wanna go back to that place. Ever.
But the music was good.

Wolfpack is more better

So, my friend Sara, who is also a die-hard State fan, shared this over on her blog today, and I about died.

It's hilarious whether you are a Pack fan or not. This could so be my kid.

See how torturous it is for a child to grow up in a home with an unfit UNC parent?

;)

Update: After a football win -

Tomorrow is Fridayyyy!!!

Girl, You KNOW Yo Mama Taught You Betta!

I am stealing this from a friend of mine's facebook note ... so simple, but so true, and so hard to "get" when you're in the middle of it all ...

IF A MAN WANTS YOU ...

By: Salma Rumman

If a man wants you, nothing can keep him away.

If he doesn’t want you, nothing can make him stay.

Stop making excuses for a man and his behavior.

Allow your intuition (or spirit) to save you from heartache.

Stop trying to change yourselves for a relationship that’s not meant to be.

Slower is better.

Never live your life for a man before you find what makes you truly happy.

If a relationship ends because the man was not treating you as you deserve
then heck no, you can’t "be friends." A friend wouldn’t mistreat a friend.

Don’t settle. If you feel like he is stringing you along, then he probably is.

Don’t stay because you think "it will get better." You’ll be mad at yourself
a year later for staying when things are not better.

The only person you can control in a relationship is you.
Avoid men who’ve got a bunch of children by a bunch of different women.
He didn’t marry them when he got them pregnant. Why would he treat you any differently?

Always have your own set of friends separate from his.

Maintain boundaries in how a guy treats you.

If something bothers you, speak up.

Never let a man know everything. He will use it against you later.

You cannot change a man’s behavior. Change comes from within.

Don’t EVER make him feel he is more important than you are...even if he has more education or a better job. Do not make him into a quasi-god. He is a man, nothing more, nothing less.

Never let a man define who you are.

Never borrow someone else’s man.

Oh Lord! If he cheated with you, he’ll cheat on you.

A man will only treat you the way you allow him to treat you.

And hey, some of you dudes should be listenin' to this too - with some chicks treatin' you like YESTERDAY'S TRASH.

And for good measure, Garth here shows how nasty it can get when you act like a dummy and treat  somebody doin SKETCHY stuff like they are your end-all, be-all. SOMEBODY gone get hurt. Never fails!

And another lesson can be learned ... dudes shouldn't wear wigs. ;) You're welcome.

Remember loves, if you gone play your own face, then why shouldn't somebody else?

Fo realz.

*PS - Anj is recoopin' from his mayjahly whack wisdom tooth teeth extraction surgery ... post comin' tomorrow probably.
